Parasites by Jimi. 2018
I once heard Joe Rogan describe humans as super complex bacteria, and LA as a cancerous growth, like mould on a sandwich. I like humans and I like LA but this really resonated with me. We are 7.6 billion strong and counting. We turn green fields into concrete and advertising space, and forests into cattle ranches and palm oil plantations. We have separated ourselves from the rest of nature and see no issue in destroying each other and our environment in a vain attempt to satisfy our own ego. “Parasites” pays a twisted homage to the beautifully chaotic 66 thousand mile an hour mess that is Planet Earth.

“I am a product of my environment.
Raised by television, billboards, magazines and the internet. Constantly reminded that happiness isnʼt here and now, it’s out there, just around the corner. It’s in a better job, a newer car, a bigger house and a better you. It’s in everything youʼre about to become and in nothing you are right now. It’s in that perpetually evolving fantasy in your head that’s always just out of reach.
So, make your life one big means to an end that never comes, sacrifice your soul to satisfy your ego, keep chasing your dreams and never be content, because you are not enough… yet.”
Jimi started his career spray-painting murals and canvases at the ukʼs first graffiti art gallery, Rarekind in 2001.
